TOMO
(Transcendental Organic Magical Objective):
Psychedelist, was born in Tokyo, on September 11th in 1972.
He started to play the guitar and learned by himself, when he was 14. At the age of 17, he moved to the U.S, and had interchanges with some
local bands. In 1998, he went back to Japan after spending 8 years in the U.S, and from year of 2000,
started his solo performances and session works mostly in Tokyo.
His music is strongly influenced by many of various traditional music in all around the world,
such as blues, Celtic, Indian, Persian, Arabic, Central Asian, Japanese, medieval, renaissance, and baroque in the west.
While his understanding of traditional music has been enthusiastic, on the other hand, he pays attention to
“stream of consciousness” which is derived from sound, and
uses aspects of minimalism, ambient, and electronica as musical factors based on his own interpretation.
On the basis of influences from these, he aims to
reach the roots of music with his floating poetic language.

hurdy gurdy, mandolin, violin, biwa, gottan, harmonium, percussion, Laos cane, saxophone (soprano & tenor) electronics, sampler, synthesizer, and etc.
